3 times the effectiveness of Ferguson's operations at MU, now failed to persuade Ronaldo to survive

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly insisted on leaving Old Trafford despite being 'persuaded' by Sir Alex Ferguson. Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United this summer to play in the Champions League.

Ronaldo returned to Manchester United 's training base on Tuesday (26/7/2022), for talks with the club, especially his manager, Erik Ten Hag.

ccording to The Sun, United will not budge on their stance that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale after his return to Carrington.

Previously, Ronaldo was given full leave by Manchester United for the first three weeks of pre-season training due to family problems in his homeland.

The result is nil

Upon arrival at Carrington, the 37-year-old followed a question and answer session with Erik ten Hag.

Sir Alex Ferguson was also on the training ground, along with former chief executive David Gill and current Old Trafford supremo Richard Arnold.

It is believed the superstar chatted with Fergie, as well as former United and England captain Bryan Robson in the Carrington cafeteria.

However, there were no significant results from the meeting. Ronaldo and Manchester United remain in their respective positions.

The interesting thing is that Sir Alex Ferguson's operation at Manchester United did not happen this time. There have been at least three Fergie-style operations in his coaching service at MU.

David Beckham's Red Card at the 1998 World Cup

David Beckham is a player with a big name at MU and also the England national team. One moment that will be remembered is that he received a red card in the last 16 of the 1998 World Cup in France, when the England national team faced Argentina.

David Beckham was sent off after being provoked by emotions with Argentine midfielder Diego Simeone. The thing that made David Beckham very hit, everyone in England seemed to corner him. Many blamed him for the failure of the England national team in the 1998 World Cup.

There is a story when David Beckham flew to New York to meet Victoria after the World Cup. While walking at the airport, a television reporter berated him. Fortunately, David Beckham has the full support of Manchester United.

The next day, Sir Alex Ferguson (his coach at Manchester United) called him and asked about his condition. Ferguson asked Beckham not to worry and immediately return to the club that became his family.

Eric Cantona's Kung Fu Kick

English Premier League fans in the 90s, easily remember the controversial action by Manchester United star, Eric Cantona. The kick of the legend, Eric Cantona, which targeted one of the spectators at a match.

The incident occurred when Manchester United were dealing with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in 1995. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Until the action was known as Eric Cantona's Kung Fu kick.

Initially Cantona received unpleasant treatment from Crystal Palace fans. Emotions peaked. He then kicked one of the spectators named Matthew Simmons with his right foot.

The public was shocked by his actions. All local British media reported the incident. And Cantona himself got the punishment he deserved, namely a ban from being involved in football for nine months.

Unlike the federation that gave Cantona a severe punishment, Manchester United actually gave great support to Cantona. Especially the coach at the time, Sir Alex Ferguson.

"I remember at that time Sir Alex was clearly giving him a big support, while the rest of the players were united around him. He was very popular among the other players in the dressing room," former United player Garry Neville told Metro in 2020.

Make Ronaldo Fail to Leave in 2008

Sir Alex Ferguson also had an interesting story that this time related to Cristiano Ronaldo. He revealed the story of Cristiano Ronaldo's planned departure from Old Trafford in 2008.

To persuade Ronaldo, Ferguson had to fly directly to Portugal. They met at the home of Carlos Queiroz, Ferguson's former assistant at Manchester United. Fergie knew that Ronaldo wanted to move to Real Madrid, but was held back with all his might after Madrid did not respect Ronaldo's qualities.

"I went to Carlos Queiroz's house in Portugal and got the boy expressing his desire to go to Real Madrid. I told him that he couldn't go that year," Ferguson was quoted as saying by the Mirror in 2021.

"I know you want to go to Real Madrid but I would rather shoot you than sell you to that guy right now. If you can do well and don't mess up, then someone comes with the highest offer in the world, then we will let you go," he said.

A year later, Cristiano Ronaldo actually left Manchester United after Real Madrid submitted a purchase proposal for 80 million pounds sterling in 2009. The value that makes the player the most expensive player in the world.

Ferguson could not refuse Real Madrid's offer. Because he has promised Ronaldo will let him go if he gets an offer that makes him the most expensive player in the world.
